Pencil Helped Cause "Concern"

A Real Concern, Lee Teter’s newest original work of art, features a long vanished rambler of the Rocky Mountains and the amazing rock art that is still scattered and hidden around western America today.

Lee’s art, especially this new work, is recognized for its realism and photographic qualities. Part of the way Lee achieves this accuracy is by creating and perfecting tiny sections of the drawing for hours at a time. Because of his attention to detail on every inch of the paper, considerable amounts of lead are applied and many pencils are used in Teter’s studio for each drawing. This remaining stub of a pencil (at right) is only one used to create the newest history art from Lee Teter, A Real Concern.

Lee Teter Quote Is A New Addition To Historic Book

A portion of Lee Teter’s writing about 18th century frontiersman Meschach Browning has been added to a new foreword of Browning’s autobiography, Forty-Four Years of the Life of a Hunter.

The new foreward, written by Robert Wegner, was recently added to the notable book by Stackpole Books as part of their Classics of American Sport series. Stackpole Books is a company known for publications with emphasis on the outdoors, history and the military.

Lee’s quote was also selected for placement on the back cover of the book. Robert Wegner states in the foreword that Mr. Teter, “best summarizes the historic importance of this great American pioneer . . .” with the well researched quote about Meschach Browning.

“This man is unique among men. It is he who embodies the spirit of us all who partake of the bountiful pleasure of the forest. Within him dwells the soul stirring spirit that has for ages prompted man to a dog and gun; the Spirit of the Hunter.”

- Lee Teter

Upon discovery of the new edition and Lee’s contribution, a collector of Lee Teter art lent this observation:

“I have found over the years great pleasure in owning your art and sharing with friends and family your talents . . . I will cherish this new and welcome addition to my library.”

Lee Teter Researches History with George Shumway

During a recent tour of eastern U.S. states following an art show, Lee was able to arrange a visit with George Shumway and his wife, Dorothy. Mr. Shumway is the author and publisher of several books Lee has used as references for his art, including research about flintlock long rifles on the American frontier. Largely due to the generosity and consideration of Dorothy, Lee was able to visit their home and view an original wagon on display in a York County, Pennsylvania museum with George.

Lee’s historical and art related research influence his pictures tremendously. There are sure to be many glorious drawings and paintings inspired by this research!

Please visit George and Dorothy`s website.
